Here is your video message for this week.

This weekend I had the privilege and pleasure of presenting at the District 66 Toastmasters International Conference in Norfolk, Virginia. The session that I offered was entitled, "Brand Yourself--OR Let Others Brand You."

This notion of branding is not new. In fact, I wrote about it back in February; but it is increasingly more important that we each pay attention to the notion that we are individually our own personal and professional brand.

Consider for a moment. When you think of the words, Google, Amazon, CNN, Nike, Walmart, Target, Tiffany's, etc., etc., you think of specific traits and you may even experience visceral feelings.

Consider, too, how reputations that accompany brand names can change very quickly.

What do people think of you when they hear your name? Are you someone who is dependable? Are you someone who can be counted on to keep your word? Are you someone who steps up to the plate and takes on extra responsibility?

In addition to having a personal and professional brand, you also have a social media brand. Unless you have been living under a rock for a decade or two, you have been tagged on Facebook.

If you are resisting the notion that you need an online presence at least on LinkedIn, you need to get over it.

Here is an article I wrote for Careerealism.com that was just published. It is entitled, "5 Things EVERY Brand Needs to Succeed."

Here is the thing. You can take charge of your brand, or you can let other people decide what you brand is for you. I don't think the alternative to being in charge of your own brand sounds like a good idea, however. Do you?

One important component of your online brand is your LinkedIn profile.

I know, I know. You have heard me talk about this, and you may already know about the special I am offering, but just in case you have missed it, I am offering a reduced fee for an hour-long, one-on-one review of your LinkedIn profile to make sure you are optimizing your profile.

Here is what you get for $45:

  • You will receive a personal review of your LinkedIn profile based upon what you tell me you want your particular personal or professional brand to be.
  • You will be given specific suggestions/recommendations on how to improve your profile to make the impact you want.
  • You will be offered resources that you may use to improve the appearance and the function of your profile.
  • You will schedule the time for your review so that you can enjoy an uninterrupted hour on the phone with me while we go through your profile step-by-step.

I urge you to take advantage of this special offer while you can. Even if you can't schedule the hour any time soon, you can lock in the price now and schedule the hour later.

Hit the buy button and follow the directions. If you don't feel you have gotten your money's worth when you have gone through the review, I will give you your money back.

So what do you have to lose?

If you have questions, let me know.

Until next time.
